Brave Fencer Musashi is an action-RPG game released by Squaresoft in 1998 for the Playstation. The game follows the story of Musashi, a young swordsman based off of Miyamoto Musashi, the real-life legendary samurai. Musashi is teleported from his home to a parallel world called the Allucaneet Kingdom, where Princess Fillet has summoned him to save the kingdom from the evil Thirstquencher Empire! Featuring character illustrations by Tetsuya Nomura (Kingdom Hearts), Musashi is a cult-classic action-RPG with unique battle mechanics, colorful characters, and - of course - a beautiful soundtrack!
Musashi’s music was scored and composed by Tsuyoshi Sekito. Musashi was Sekito’s first time working on a Squaresoft game; before then, Sekito had helped compose music for SD Snatcher and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, both for the MSX2. After Mushashi, Sekito would later work on other Square-Enix games, including The Last Remnant and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Sekito would also later form The Black Mages, a Final Fantasy-inspired prog rock band!
The music of Musashi helps to create the world around the game; from epic battle themes to soothing village tunes, and even a dance-off(!) against the villains, Sekito has something for everyone in Brave Fencer Musashi - the heroes, the villains, the monsters, and the players!
